Mammals

The Senni Valley contains a range of habitats for wild mammals. Many have been seen here, including five species of bats, foxes, badgers, otters, pole cats, stoats & weasels, grey squirrels, feral cats, Welsh mountain ponies, rabbits, hares, rats, mice, field and bank voles etc. Mink have not been seen for several years.

The Vincent Wildlife Trust is helping the spread of pine martens from mid-Wales into the Senni Valley and other sites close by. In 2019 a nest box for them was provided and put in a suitable site in woodland on the hillside. So far, a camera trap has only shown grey squirrels.

Beavers are a possible introduction here. They would enhance the river, streams and water meadows nearby.
