Many military airplanes have crashed into the mountains around the Senni Valley. There are over 200 more in East and North-East Wales. Some can be visited, but these sites can not be disturbed in any way, without a licence from the Joint Casualty and Compassionate Centre (JCCC) of the Ministry of Defence (MoD).
- Below is part of the crash debris (SN 914 213) from an Avro Vulcan B. Mk.2 XH536 of the RAF Cottesmore Wing, which flew into Fan Bwlch Chwyth in the Brecon Beacons on the 11th February 1966 while on a training flight. The aircraft struck near the top of the mountain and broke apart over a large area, killing the five crew members.
Other nearby aircraft crash sites are at SN 8163 1688 (Wellington bomber MF509), SN 8321 1833 (Wellington bomber BJ697) and SN 827 202 (Vampire VZ106).
