Obituary of Elizabeth Ann Davies (1928-2006), Garnlwyd, Heol Senni

It is with deep regret that we record the death of Mrs Elizabeth Ann Davies of Garnlwyd, Heol Senni who passed away peacefully at Pwll Isaf, Trecastle on March 13 2006 aged 78 years.
"Ninny" as she was affectionately known by the family was born at Blaennedd Isaf, Ystradfellte and was a daughter for the late Thomas & Margaret Lewis. In 1944 she married Richard Morgan Davies and went to live at the Cwm, Ystradfellte, where their children Tommy, Philip and Marion were born. In the early 1950's the family moved to Garnlwydd, Heol Senni. At Garnlwyd there was always a tremendous welcome for everyone who called to visit and there was nothing she liked better than to be surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ninny had a genuine love for sheep and she always looked forward to the arrival of the lambs in the spring. A very caring and sincere lady, Ninny liked to be surrounded by family and friends and will always be remembered for her kindness.
A family service was held at Pwll Isaf, Trecastle followed by a service at St Mary's Church, Ystradfellte. The large congregation present was testimony to the esteem and respect in which she was held. The service was conducted by the Rev John Scott and the Rev Mostyn Williams and Mrs Lynne Jones was the organist. The chosen hymns were Mae d'eisiau Di Bob awr, Eli Jenkins' Prayer and The Old rugged cross and 0 Fryniau Caersalem was sung at the graveside.
Funeral arrangements were carried out by E. J. Morgan & Son and the bearers were Aled Lewis, Kenneth Morgan, Stuart Price, Gethin Morgan, Morgan Powell and Mike Reed.
Family mourners were: Tommy Davies (son), PhilipMargery Davies (son and daughter-in-law), MarionGoronwy Jones (daughter & son-in- law), SianNerys Jones, Geraint, GarethSally Davies (grandchildren & grand daughter-in-law), Bryn, Richard, Katie, Hannah, CeriMarina (great grandchildren).

Donations amounted to £1048 and were gratefully received by St Mary's Church, Ystradfellte and the League of Friends of Brecon War Memorial Hospital. Tommy, Phil, Marion and families wish to express their sincere thanks to family, neighbours and friends for their many kindnesses, messages of sympathy, cards, letters, flowers, donations and gifts received. Also to Doctors and Nurses from the Brecon Group Practice for their support. To the Rev John Scott and the Rev Mostyn Williams for officiating and Mrs Lynne Jones, the organist. Thanks also to the ladies of Blas Y Bannau for providing the refreshments and to Mrs Joan Morgan for her assistance and kindness. A special thank you to Mr Philip Morgan for the dignified and respectful manner in which the funeral arrangements were carried out.
